MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of this congregation is to exemplify visible form to that faith and fellowship to which God has called his people; to acknowledge ourselves to be a local manifestation of the universal church through which Jesus Christ continues to minister to the world by his Holy Spirit; to seek to fulfill this calling through a ministry of Christian nurture by which our members may be built up in their faith and love, through proclamation of the gospel by word and deed; and to minister to human
needs in the name of Christ.
We invite you to become a part of First Baptist Church, Elmont. They may be received into membership by one of the following methods:
By Baptism: Any person who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and adopts substantially the views of faith and principles of this Church and is baptized (by immersion) may be received into the fellowship
of this Church.
In the event that an individual cannot be immersed in water due to extenuating circumstances, him/her can be accepted by testimony.
By Letter: Any person who is in substantial accord with the views of faith and the principles of this Church may be received
into membership by letter from any other Christian Church.
By Experience: Any believer of worthy character who has been formerly a member of a Christian Church, and for sufficient reason cannot present a letter from that Church, but who is in substantial accord with the views of faith and principles of this Church may be received
into membership upon statement of his/her experience.
By Restoration: Any person who has lost membership in this Church may be restored to membership upon recommendation of the
Deacon Ministry and approval of the Church.
By Watch-care: Any person who is a member of another Christian Church, but sojourning in this community may be received into this Church with all the rights and privileges of membership with the exception
of voting and holding elected offices.
